About

The Reinforcement Design ACT Extension processes the results of all your loads and combinations of your structural analysis, and computes reinforcement ratios for concrete structures (such as slabs, walls, etc.) modeled with shell or plate elements.

The extension adds a new analysis called also Reinforcement Design, that can be used to:

  • Define combinations of load cases

  • Combine internal forces using these combinations

  • Compute reinforcement ratios

First, the load cases are defined in reference to the structural analyses linked to the Reinforcement Design analysis.

Then, you can define combinations with simple formulas based on the load cases.

From just a few combinations, the software generates all possible elementary combinations. In the example below, 14 combinations are generated from 1 definition. For a complex project the software can easily generate hundreds and thousands of elementary combinations or more.

The analysis extracts internal forces in shell elements for all load cases, then computes the combinations according to the defined combinations, and then computes the necessary reinforcements.

You have full control over the parameters that define the behavior laws, such as concrete resistance, steel elastic limit, partial safety factors and allowable stress or strain:

  • Linear laws for the Serviceability Limit States,

  • Non-linear laws for the Ultimate Limit States.

Necessary reinforcements ratios are computed according to a proven analytical method. This method optimizes longitudinal reinforcements to verify internal forces equilibrium for all the combinations.

Since the design criteria usually depend on the project situations or combinations, the extension let full control on when each design criteria applies: in a single place, different criteria can be set for different combinations.

Finally, the reinforcement ratios can be visualized according to the defined combinations and design criteria.
